A Pakistani policeman and his unexpected bravery tale:
It is commonly understood by all of us that Police has such huge responsibilities when it comes to helping and serving their fellow citizens and all around the world, the police are doing a fabulous job. But not in Pakistan
We have this terrible impression of our policemen and policewomen that they don’t help us, but they cause us far more trouble than we already are. This is true to some extent, we all can agree upon it.
But as not all fingers of a hand are equal, so all policemen and women cannot be bad or corrupt. There is this small incident that happened in Rawalpindi on 24th December where a brave policeman fought a criminal and that too without worrying about this own life.
It is clearly seen through the CCTV footage that two armed persons were about to cause some serious damage in a busy market area and a brave policeman, Sultan Qamar, out of where jumped upon them and tried to take control. Although he succeeded in controlling one of the culprits, the other started shooting in frustrations of getting caught at point blank.
Now that was something which caught my eye. Being shot at point blank means 100 % death, but the SHO Sultan did not care about his life and tried to do what was right. Now, this is the kind of the efforts we expect from our police.
Such cases may gain public applauses and breaking news in any other country, but we did not even hear about it. Such examples will reform our beliefs in the police. Policemen and women always put their lives on danger for us and the least we could do it respect them.
