All over the world, animal rights have been protected, and they are being practiced regularly, but in Pakistan, animal rights are something which has not been given any thought as such. But things are changing as a case was filed over a dead cat.
Incident Details
According to the details, a citizen of Karachi has filed a case against a woman who ran her car over the poor, demised cat. According to the details, the woman was driving through the South Zone when her car ran over the poor cat.
The incident happened in the location near of Darakhshan Police Station, Defense Housing Authority Phase VIII on February 1.
The person who filed the complaint said that the state must protect the animals and they should do something serious about the animals getting run over by the vehicles and other such incidents which can cause any kind of harm to her animals.
Government’s Laws For Animal Rights
There is only one law currently active in Pakistan regarding the animals, and that is the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act 1890. But notably, this law is not enough to protect the animals and their welfare.
But the Sindh government took a step in this regard and in 2018, a bill was drafted according to which animals’ shelter and safety will be the responsibility of the state. But this law has not been enforcing as such.
