The continuing process of mobile phone registration which is supposed to be done by the 31st of December 2018 has still not been done.
News has it that the Senate Standing Committee has directed PTA to extend the date for another 10 days so the launch of the online phone registration portal can be activated.
Though this news has not been confirmed by the authorities the work is going on, and confirmations will be cleared soon.

PTA officials met with the senate standing committee and explained them the whole situation. PTA told them that their system needs a time of another 10 days to complete the process of online mobile registration for the overseas Pakistanis.
People are still coming to the offices to get their phones registered and to pay the taxes and duty for their mobiles.
The committee was not impressed with the slow processing of PTA, and they were annoyed. They directed PTA to get done with the online portal as soon as possible and launch the portal as soon as they can before the application of eth new policies gets active.
Also, the committee asked for another extension until the online system is fully functional. PTA assured that the system will get active on the 25th of January.
