It feels like ages since we heard any good news related to the Pakistani passport. When the Henley’s annual Passport index is out, we fear for the bad news and yes, this time is no different than past.
Visa-Free Access
According to the latest index, Pakistani passport ranks among the worst five passports in the world. Yikes! It means that in the list of 106 countries, Pakistani passport is at number 102.
This rank allows free access in almost 33 countries. Pakistani passport holder will get visa-free access in Uganda, Qatar, Kenya, Cambodia and other countries like such.
Even countries like Palestine and Yemen are ranked above it. The countries which are ranked below are Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. These are all those countries which are war-torn and are still under war.
Overall Review
The top three position holder passports belong to the following countries:
- 1st – Japan: its happy and civilized citizens can enjoy visa-free access in almost 190 countries.
- 2nd – Singapore and South Korea: their citizens will get access to 189 countries.
- 3rd – Germany and France: 188 countries provide free access to these countries’ citizens.
India stands on the 79th position along with Benin, Morocco, Mongolia, and Armenia. While Bangladesh is at 97th position and Srilanka stands on the 95th position which allows visa on arrival or visa free access in 41 countries.
Reason
The issue with such ranking can be related to the terrorism war and the unstable political scenarios. The constant outrageous outbreaks and week-long protests which are like the routine life of any Pakistani citizen; all these factors conclude this negative ranking which has been with us for quite some time now. We hope the new government does something about it and QUICK!
