Thousands of people go to perform Umrah every month. People literally save every penny to get to Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah, but now that seems a bit hard for any commoner as Saudi Government has imposed an Umrah Tax of SR 2000.
According to the Government, they had asked the Saudi Government to remove this tax and still no response has been heard over it. This was cleared by the minter of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Noor-ul-HaqQadri in the national assembly.
He said that the government is waiting for the Saudi officials to respond over it. They are also discussing this matter of imposing of Umrah tax on Pakistanis with the right authorities but to no response.
Earlier, when Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan went on his first tour to Saudi Arabia in September 2018, he discussed this matter directly with the current prince Mohammad Bin Salman. Although they assured that they will look into this matter, no response has been given yet.
This may have come as shocking news that Saudi Government is yet to issue a direct response, but I give them this that a government takes various different matters into account before issuing a response. So, all we can do is wait and keep pressuring them to give us a positive response which will benefit us.
As we all know how much enthusiasm we are when it comes to the performance of Umrah and Hajj but Hajj is out of range for so many, and not everyone can do so people opt for Umrah so at least what would be done.
