With the new government taking control, new policies are surfacing from everywhere. The most recent policy to reach us is the increase in the Hajj packages which are expected to happen in the current year of 2019.
Amount of Increment
It is expected that the total hajj package will now be 420,000 rupees per person as per the government’s new scheme. The government is hoping for the subsidy of 40,000 rupees per person, so the total cost will be around 380,000.
Last year, the price per package was Rs 270,000 and Rs 280,000 for northern and southern region respectively. Last year they charged 13,050 for the animal sacrifice separately.
Why There is Such Increase in Hajj Packages
The increase has come in the wake of the depreciating Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. The Rupee has been devaluing as much as Rs. 29 against the US dollar since December 2017.
Also, the increase can be the result of the new increased taxes levied by the KSA government. But good news for Pakistan, as the KSA has increased the quota of Pakistani pilgrims by 5000. So, it can be expected that more than 184,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj in the year 2019.
Although many other plans are in the pipeline and Road to Makkah will be introduced to send as much as 35,000 pilgrims as the first via road from Sindh. They will be given their e-visas from Karachi airport. The government will be accepting the hajj applications from January 20 to February 20.
